As a community artist, Katherin intersects community participation, audience engagement, and urban poverty/issues awareness. These social context come through the form of 3D photo transfers and puzzles. Facilitating creative based inquiry by presenting urban development statistics/stories and images of healthy communities, she offers scenarios for audiences to play and imagine a new, ecologically/economically diverse, and vibrant urban life.
Katherin has been a Board and Collective Member with Rock Paper Scissors Collective and the Administrative Gallery Coordinator at Pro Arts, Oakland. Previously as the Community Collaborations Director at Rock Paper Scissors Collective(RPSC), Katherin coordinated partnerships between RPSC artist's and local non-arts organizations to allow equal access to arts education and opportunities to typically under-resourced communities. She and RPSC have been dedicated to working towards opening education and arts opportunities to all communities to enable the Do It Yourself model of entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency through creative opportunities.
